First things first, this Friday our class is in charge of the school Mass. Our theme is Stewards of the Earth. Some of our students are doing readings, please practice with them if they brought one home with them. This Mass is also a Food Bank Mass.
Secondly, I apologize for not keeping up with the blog! The students have been really busy with their writing so it has increased my marking time! It is so exciting to see how much they have improved. If you get the chance, please come in and see their Dragon descriptions on bulletin board outside our classroom.
We are also working on the Beatitudes. To simplify them, we just call them Rules of Happiness or the "Be Attitudes" :) We will have a quiz on them in two weeks.
We are just wrapping up our novel studies and will be starting a new one next week. This time, the whole class will be reading Frindle by Andrew Clements, together. Please DO NOT read ahead, as some of the activities will be predicting activities.
Book report: As I mentioned last blog, each student is able to choose their own novel for the third term report. They need to choose which genre it fits in and then they will summarize the book. I will provide for them the poster paper to do it on. Don't worry! There is plenty of time to read as the book report is not due until June 1st!

As we wrap our our science and socials units, we are preparing for our next units. In Socials, Grade 3's will be working on an independent study of a province of their choice and Grade 4's will be working on an independent study of an Aboriginal group of their choice.In Science, we will all be working on Plants, Animals and Habitats. (It will be nice to work on the same unit together! Of course the two grades will have different learning outcomes.) We will continue with multiplication and division in math, respectively but we will also be practicing time and measurement.

ALLELUIA!!!
Jesus is risen! Today, we painted butterflies on our windows , a symbol of new life and Easter. Just as Jesus rose from the dead in the tomb, a caterpillar enters the cocoon and emerges a butterfly! A beautiful analogy for a wonderful season of the church. We celebrate the season of Easter for 50 days, until Pentecost.
A Few Reminders:
--Tomorrow is Canuck colour day to cheer on our hometeam in their first game of the playoffs!
--Popcorn day is back= $0.50
--Easter-grams are for sale for 1.00. All proceeds go towards our sponsor child. These will be for sale every Wednesday until Pentecost!

Homestretch!
Here we are in our final months together! As the weather gets warmer (wishful thinking!!!) our thoughts start to wander more, but hopefully the students will be engaged in the new things we are doing this term. As you know, third term is so busy with activities such as Track and Field, celebration of Easter, end of the year celebrations and much more. Be sure to check the school website and our blog often for updates!

SPRING BREAK is around the corner!
With the cold snap that we've been having, it's almost hard to imagine that we are nearing the season of spring! But here we are with Spring Break just a day away!
The report cards will be going home tomorrow. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at mfonseca@ccsunited.ca or else phone me at school upon our return on March 26. I am very proud of the effort the students put in this term and I think that our third term together will be fun filled with lots of activities. It will be just a short while and I will talking about the end of third! The saying, "Time flies when you're having fun" sure rings true as our weeks just fly by!
Tomorrow is a NON-UNIFORM day and we are encouraging students to wear Green (St. Patrick's) and Black (for the first ever Father Mark's Day!) We are also asking each family to send in $2 to put towards a birthday gift from our school. We are celebrating his 50th birthday with an assembly and cake at 2:15. Thank you to Mrs. Hunger for making our cupcakes and to all the other parents who offered to make some as well.
